The change-over switch is a key part of the CNG/LPG electronic system, typically installed on the vehicle’s dashboard for easy access by the driver. This switch allows the driver to seamlessly transition between fuel types, such as from petrol to CNG or LPG.
How the Switch Functions
When the vehicle starts, the ignition activates an orange light on the switch, indicating that the car is running on petrol. As the driver accelerates and the engine reaches a pre-set RPM threshold (usually around 1200 RPM), the system automatically switches to CNG or LPG. At this point, the switch panel lights up in green, showing that the vehicle is now operating on CNG. The number of green lights displayed provides an indication of the available CNG in the tank.
If the driver wishes to revert to petrol, they can simply press the switch once, and the system will smoothly transition to petrol mode, even if there is still CNG available in the tank. This changeover happens without any interruption or knocking, ensuring a seamless driving experience. The change-over switch plays a vital role in optimizing fuel usage, enhancing efficiency, and providing the flexibility of choosing between petrol and CNG/LPG, depending on the driver’s preference.
