What is the NDA Exam?
The National Defence Academy (NDA) Exam is a prestigious entrance exam conducted by the Union Public Service Commission (UPSC) for admission into the Indian Army, Navy, and Air Force. The exam is held twice a year and is one of the most competitive exams in India. Successful candidates are selected to undergo training at the NDA in Khadakwasla, Pune, which is a gateway to becoming an officer in the Indian Armed Forces. The NDA exam consists of two parts: a written test and an SSB interview. The written test covers subjects like Mathematics, General Ability, and English.
NDA Exam Eligibility
To be eligible for the NDA exam, candidates must meet the following criteria:
Nationality: The candidate must be a citizen of India, a subject of Bhutan or Nepal, or a Tibetan refugee who came to India before January 1, 1962, with the intention of settling permanently in India.
Age Limit: The candidate must be between 16.5 and 19.5 years of age at the time of the exam. The exact age limits are specified in the NDA notification issued by UPSC.
Educational Qualification:
For Army Wing: Candidates should have passed 10+2 or an equivalent examination from a recognized board or university.
For Air Force and Navy Wings: Candidates must have passed 10+2 with Physics and Mathematics as compulsory subjects.
Marital Status: Only unmarried male candidates can apply for the NDA exam.
Physical Standards: Candidates must meet the required physical and medical standards set by the NDA. This includes criteria for vision, height, and overall fitness.
