Types of Lab and OT Courses

1. Diploma in Medical Laboratory Technology (DMLT)
  • This is a prerequisite course that introduces students to basic medical science subjects such as the techniques of diagnosis, basic ethics in medicine and management of a laboratory.
2. Bachelor of Science in Medical Laboratory Technology (B.Sc. MLT)
  • This is awarded at the undergraduate level which builds on the student’s understanding of the theoretical aspects taught in the previous course on laboratory procedures and practices and apparatus used in the laboratory along with new technologies.
3. Diploma in Operation Theater Technology (DOTT)
  • It is an ideal course for those who want to work closely in surgical environments providing assistance, handling of equipment, and administration of OTs.
4. Bachelor of Science in Operation Theater Technology (B.Sc. OTT)
  • The bachelor’s degree delves deeper into all OTs, anaesthesia technology, and patient care. The bachelor program covers everything to do with OT procedures.
5. Certificate Courses
  • These are short courses that are undertaken to improve or learn new skills. For instance, a course in phlebotomy, ECG analysis or anaesthesia assisting.
6. Advanced Specializations
  • Typically offered as a postgraduate diploma or master’s programs for those specialized in certain areas such as histopathology, cytogenetics, minimally invasive surgical methods and many more.
