Types Of Cranes
Different industries require different types of cranes to get various types of work done, and here are a few of them.
1. Tower Cranes
- These cranes are commonly used in high-rise construction projects. Their tall mast and horizontal jib enable the lifting and moving of heavy materials without difficulty. They are best used in large-scale construction due to their stability and lifting capability.
2. Mobile Cranes
- From one site to the next, Mobile cranes are extremely easy to move with. They come with their truck-mounted cranes, rough terrain cranes, and all-terrain cranes, which enable them to operate under diverse working conditions.
3. Overhead Cranes
- Bridge cranes or overhead cranes are commonly found in warehouses and in manufacturing industries. They are suspended from elevated runways and can move heavy loads while suspended across working areas which allows floors to operate unimpeded.
4. Crawler Cranes
- In comparison to wheels, these cranes have tracks which gives them more stability in comparison to uneven terrains. These cranes are commonly used for construction and other infrastructure projects.
5. Telescopic Cranes
- In rescue missions, shipyard operations and industrial maintenance, these cranes are really convenient due to their ability to extend booms and reach greater heights.
6. Counterbalance Forklifts
- These forklifts are equipped to maintain the frame and the counterweight which are located at the back of the equipment. They are popular in warehouses and distribution hubs.
7. Reach Trucks
- High stacking and working in tight spaces are the speciality of reach trucks. They have extended forks that enable them to lift and slide loads into confined areas which makes them ideal for narrow aisles.
8. Pallet jacks
- Unlike other pallet-moving equipment, pallet trucks are a smaller version specialized for moving palletized goods over short distances, either manually or electronically.
9. Rough Terrain Forklifts
- Rough terrain forklifts are specifically designed for outdoor use as they feature large, rugged tires and powerful engines to traverse rough and undulating surfaces.
10. Side Loader Forklifts
- Side loader forklifts make the transportation of long and bulky pipes, timber, and steel bars easier because they can be effortlessly loaded and unloaded from the side.
