Types of Felt Kinds

Felt types differ by their composition, usage, and structure, and each has an individual purpose. The most common types include:

1. Wool Felt:
  • Wool felt has the softest texture among all types since it is made of natural wool fibres. It is commonly used in soundproofing, upholstery, and fashion due to its moisture-wicking properties and durability.
2. Synthetic Felt:
  • Synthetic felts are composed of cheaper and more resistant materials, such as polyester or acrylic. These offer moisture, chemicals, and wear resistance. Such types are widely used in automotive components, industrial filtration, and packaging.
3. Blended Felt:
  • Blended felts combine synthetic and wool fibers hence offering the best of both worlds in terms of cost-effectiveness and durability. Such felt types are used in popular decorative items, bags, and even footwear.
4. Industrial Felt:
  • Industrial ones are the most sturdy since they are designed for heavy-duty applications, hence dense and sturdy make them suitable for insulation, lubrication, and shock absorption from machinery.
