Types of Solar Power Plants
Solar power plants are divided into different categories ranging from the different style of technology used to its size.
1. Photovoltaic (PV) Solar Power Plants
- Leverages solar panels to convert sunlight to electricity.
- Suits residential, commercial and industrial uses.
2. Concentrated Solar Power (CSP) Plants
- Leveraging mirrors or lenses to focus sunlight on a receiver, which produces thermal energy.
- Good for large-scale energy production.
3. Grid-Connected Solar Power Plants
- They receive power from the local power grid and then return any additional power they have received back into the grid.
4. Off-Grid Solar Power Plants
- Uses battery storage equipment to work without a power grid.
5. Hybrid Solar Power Plants
- Combines solar energy with other power sources such as wind or diesel generators to ensure a stable power supply.
