Types of Medical Colleges in India
In India, medical colleges are classified into two broad types: government colleges and private colleges. Both broadly offer a similar quality of education although there are a number of distinctions such as of course the fee structure, facilities and the infrastructure available.
1. Government Medical Colleges
- In contrast to private medical colleges, these colleges a government aid which allows them to maintain low fees. Entry into these is determined largely by an entrance test, NEET (National Eligibility cum Entrance Test). The education provided here is excellent both in regard to academic and practical skills.
2. Private Medical Colleges
- These colleges are owned by private factions and as such attract higher fees than government ones. That aside, a number of these private colleges boast of great facilities, infrastructure and student services. Admission into such colleges is through NEET exams or other private college examinations.
